Is This The Last Pothole On The Lions Road To Success This Season

“Well, I said that last week. This is how the league is going to — these quarterbacks that can run, get off the pocket and make plays with their feet,” Glenn said. “You’re not just going to sit back in the pocket and just watch guys throw it around the yard anymore. They’re going to have guys that can get out the pocket and make some plays.

“We just got to do a good job of making sure we crush the pocket. Keep him in the pocket. Make him play quarterback. And then we got to do a good job getting him to the ground.”

Allgeier certainly has some adorers in Allen Park, though. Lions head coach Dan Campbell also marveled at the second-year power back, saying: “Man, that guy, he’s power.” Robinson will eat the national attention, and for good reason. But Allgeier has continued to see a meaty role, with 123 rushing yards and two touchdowns through two weeks. He ran for 1,035 yards and three scores as a rookie last season.

“Now that guy, he’s about running through your face,” Campbell said. “And so, it’s a one-two punch, totally two different styles and we’ve got to be ready to adapt quickly with the way they do it. Now, back to what we’ve done, that was one of the focuses of let’s be better against the run. Try to make teams more one-dimensional, and we’ve done a pretty good job of that.

“This team will — they’re going to try to run the ball more than 30 times. I mean, that’s really what they want to do, so. They’re not going to be discouraged by what goes on. They’ll continue to hand it off.”

So Is This The Last Pothole On The Lions Road To Success This Season? The stopping of the opponenets rushing attack, whether that’s a stout running back or a mobile quarter seems to be the glass ceiling that needs to be shattered for the team’s success capabilities to really take off. If Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell want that longterm success , then this is the area where their attention needs to be concentrated…like a laser beam!

What do you think?

Will doing this make them a perennial powerhouse team?

I've been a Detroit Lions fan as far back as I can remeber as a child. I've always wanted them to win, and be successful. So, I've felt the gut punch of year after year of SOL. But I'm in it to win it, so that's why I'm all about my LionsPassion!
